The day started with heavy showers, but by the start of the Fair the rain had given way to sunny intervals. The village green was wet and muddy in places, but all those present enjoyed themselves. The Morris Dancing had to be cancelled, because the ground was too wet, and there were too few entries for the fancy dress competition. But instead, an impromptu welly competition was held, judged by Dame Vera Lynn, Sally Wallis and Brian Clutterbuck. The Unreel Ceilidh played and some of us tried some barn dancing. The stalls, tombola and raffle raised over ?1,000.
