The Restoration of St Margaret's Church

St Margaret's PCC has produced a comprehensive plan for the restoration and development of the parish church. The fabric plan reflects the continued determination of Ditchling village to ensure the place of this beautiful historic church within the community for generations to come.

St Margaret's is a place of regular worship and the focal point for diverse community life. From services, school visits and guided tours to a place of peaceful reflection; St Margaret's is the place where hundreds of people go. In addition to the colourful and vibrant local life, visitors from all over the world are drawn to Ditchling; and with the Museum, St Margaret's provides a fascinating learning and enriching experience for the many visitors.

St. Margaret's is now facing the challenges of its unique role in local, national and international life by setting out a clear plan for the maintenance of the church and the enrichment of its facilities ready for the challenges of the new century.

The church itself is in urgent need of renovation. The total cost of the essential building works is estimated at £350,000. To achieve this target the PCC are committed to fundraising at local and national level drawing support from all aspects of the wider community.

Due to the scale of the project a considerable amount of time has been given by the PCC and the Friends of St Margaret's to developing a strategy to refurbish the fabric of the church which will enable work to begin as swiftly as possible whilst maintaining the prudent approach to finances which is our characteristic approach.
